    Queimada

A creation for Festival A Corps (TAP) with 33 students from the Atelier de Recherche Chorégraphique at the University of Poitiers

Playing with fire

Queimada not only means that which has burned, caught fire, it is also the translation for the game of dodgeball, where when someone is touched by the opposing team's ball, they are eliminated and sent to prison in France or to heaven in Brazil.

Queimada was the starting point for the construction of a playground where the rules were re-examined and reconsidered, giving rise to new relationships and generating multiple temporary and fleeting communities.

By transforming the purpose of the game, collective dances were put into circulation, and bodies and gestures were reinvented through games, fusions, discussions, parties, celebrations and other burnings.

Between the intimate and the collective, winning means lighting the fire to dance and stay together.

Queimada was presented on April 5, 2023 as part of the A Corps Festival in Poitiers.
